Dean was born in Wakefield and became involved in the local DIY scene through writing and editing a fanzine and running shows for local bands. In 2011 he created Long Division Festival which sought to build on the success of the fanzine and individual shows.
Dean is now the director of Long Division CIC which oversees the festival and other projects year round, championing grassroots creatives and assisting in their development.
