Music:Leeds Launchpad offers opportunities and support for emerging artists, musicians, producers, BANDS and composers in Leeds and West Yorkshire region.

Throughout 2019 we offered:

  • Funded recording sessions for 10 artists and advice on releasing and distributing music

  • Live opportunities in collaboration with partners including Live At Leeds, Yorkshire Music Forum, JazzLeeds Festival, Inner City Electronic and more

  • Mentoring for 24 artists

  • Commission for a new piece of music with Leeds International Festival in partnership with Sound and Music

  • Opportunities to attend 2 x day conference events for all - City Music Forum and Unconference

  • Opportunities to attend 6 themed workshops / seminars, in collaboration with a wide range of partners, open to all

  • Regular updates on events, opportunities and funding available in the region and from local and national partners

Who is eligible for the Music:Leeds Launchpad?
Anyone creating or performing music based in the Leeds City Region / West Yorkshire. Our support is geared towards featured artists actively performing, recording and releasing music - this includes electronic music producers and DJs. Our opportunities may not be appropriate for solo instrumentalists who are not performing publicly or recording as a featured artist, but we are working with partners to provide relevant support.

Who chooses the artists selected?
A range of local and national music experts and professionals, including those involved with our partner organisations will choose the artists selected for recording and mentoring. Where live opportunities are given in collaboration with a partner festival, they will have a large part of this decision process

Will artists be paid for the live performances?
All artists will be paid for their performance

Will the funded recording session be with specific studios / producers?
We will work with selected artists to support recording sessions suitable for their need, with the option for support to be added to existing bookings to maximise their impact
