Based in Leeds but originating from Hartlepool, Meltwater (Jon Gibson) has played music under various guises for over a decade: on guitar, writing, releasing and touring with Arcs and Trauma; and as bass music producer, JGYB, releasing on Container (Portugal) and Liminal Sounds (UK).
Meltwater builds on Jon’s interest in electronic and guitar music to craft a varied pallet of songs from bass-driven rhythm sections, folk and ambient-inspired guitar and soulful vocals, taking influence from the likes of Nicolas Jaar and John Martyn.
2019 will see the release of a debut EP, Distractions in Digital, and video.
So far this year, Meltwater has landed support slots with artists including Binkbeats (Headrow House, Leeds) and Advance Base (Brudenell Social Club, Leeds] and featured at Sofar Sounds Middlesbrough and Northern Electric Festival.
